Renewal letter for a manufacturer in Oxfordshire

The unit rates on a two-year renewal were above the market. The big rise in the standing charge was fair.

Nuclear RAB 0.45p/kWh£671 a year. Same on our quote.

What happened

Figures from a real check, anonymised

  1. Offered. A manufacturer in Oxfordshire was sent a 2-year electricity renewal on 28 October 2026, with “sign by 4:30 today” in the covering email.
  2. Checked line by line. The standing charge had gone from £9 to £48.88 a day, but that’s the market for an HV half-hourly site. The unit rates were 2.60p and 2.22p per kWh too high.
  3. Outcome. We quoted 24.79p day and 21.44p night on the same term, in 2 working days, with no deadline missed. About £3,000 a year less, about £6,000 over the two years. Our fee is 1.5p per kWh, already in the rates we quoted.
How we worked out £3,000 a year

149,000 kWh a year, 70% day and 30% night. Ex CCL and VAT.

Their renewalOur quote
Day, 104,300 kWh£28,568£25,856
Night, 44,700 kWh£10,576£9,584
Standing charge, 365 days£17,841£18,465
A year£56,985£53,905

£3,080 a year less, £6,160 over the 2 years. Our standing charge was £1.71 a day higher, and that £624 a year is already taken off. At 60/40 day and night it’s still £3,023 a year.

The capacity charge and Nuclear RAB are left out because they were the same on both.
